Our Expectation of You

Contribute positively to learning without discrimination based on gender, race, sexual preference, political views, marital status, disability, or religious beliefs. Follow Skills Training College rules.

Be honest and respectful, never falsify work or information, and avoid any behaviour that could harm or offend others.

Take responsibility for your learning and development by actively participating and keeping up with your learning modules. Meet assessment deadlines and monitor your own progress.

Use college facilities and publications respectfully, respecting copyrights and preventing unauthorised distribution.

Respect the privacy and confidentiality of fellow students and college staff members.

Your Safety

Skills Training College is committed to providing you with a safe environment in which to participate in training and assessment. The following guidelines are provided as a basis for safe practice in the training environment:

  • Know and observe details of emergency response and evacuation plans
  • Do not undertake activities that may cause injury to self or others
  • Ensure you are physically fit to perform practical assessments such as CPR by kneeling on the ground; security stances or other physical movements. Inform your trainer if any tasks can not be performed due to illness or injury
  • Be responsible for your own actions
  • Smoking is not permitted at the training and assessment facilities or offices
  • Everyone has a responsibility to provide and maintain a safe working environment at all times; this includes staff, trainers, contractors, students and visitors.
  • Report all potential hazards, accidents and near misses to the RTO staff
  • Consumption of alcohol within training and assessment facilities or during the conduct of training and assessment is not permitted, and people appearing to be suffering the effects of intoxication or drugs will be asked to leave and will forfeit any course fees paid
  • Training and assessment areas must be kept neat and tidy at all times
  • Seek assistance if you volunteer to lift items, e.g. move furniture in a training area
  • Observe hygiene standards, particularly in eating and bathroom areas.
  • Faulty equipment- Equipment that is not working should be reported to RTO staff. 

Lifting Policy: You are encouraged to lift training and assessment materials voluntarily, assuming responsibility for any injuries. Avoid lifting objects beyond your capacity. When picking up items, remember to bend your knees and maintain a straight back. If you’ve had prior back issues, refrain from lifting heavy objects and seek assistance from others.

Evacuation

Safety within the classroom is our top priority. In the event of an evacuation, it’s crucial to follow the directions of the trainer. This ensures a coordinated and orderly evacuation process, helping to maintain the safety and well-being of all participants. Your cooperation in following these instructions is essential for everyone’s safety.

In addition to our evacuation procedures, we maintain strict housekeeping rules to ensure that all areas are kept clear of hazards, especially around fire exits. This helps create a secure learning environment for everyone. Your cooperation in adhering to these rules is greatly appreciated
